First off, I think this is a funny concept - teens are invited to a panel discussion to educate Hollywood writers on how to better write teen TV, like The O.C. and Gilmore Girls. Either things have changed dramatically since the days of Beverly Hills 90210 and Growing Pains or someone is missing the point. I thought it was supposed to be bad TV. Not After School Special bad, but still, somewhere between campy and Hollywood fantasy.
But this NPR story is a little 90210 dram-edy in itself - teens talking about sex shops with their parents? And a whole slew of likely derogatory sexual terms that I don't actually know the meaning of (how did I get so old so fast?) While still mentioning that rumors can ruin your reputation...
If you haven't felt grateful to be a grown-up lately, listen to the full NPR story here.
